Delete your account or a note
Two different actions, at two different levels of reversible. This page walks through both — deleting the account itself, on the web and on the phone, and deleting a single note, which is not final until Trash is emptied.
Deleting your account — web
Sign in, then open Settings from the account row at the bottom of the sidebar (or press ⌘, / Ctrl+,).
- Scroll to the Account section at the bottom of the panel.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm on the dialog that appears. This step is the one that actually deletes anything — closing the dialog or choosing Keep my account cancels it with nothing changed.
Deleting your account — iOS and Android
Sign in, then open the Library sheet and tap your account row at the bottom to reach Settings.
- Scroll down to the Account section.
- Tap Delete account, in red beneath Sign out.
- Confirm on the dialog that appears. As on the web, nothing is deleted until this confirmation.
What deleting your account removes
Every note and its transcript, every recording and every attached file, tags and folders, your profile and its picture, and your saved preferences. The account row itself is removed, and every device you were signed in on is signed out.
This happens immediately and there is no recovery window afterwards — unlike deleting a single note, there is no trash to restore an account from. Storage is cleared first, then the database row, so a failure partway through never leaves a deleted account behind with your files still attached to it.
Deleting a note
Deleting one note is a different, reversible action, on both platforms: it moves the note to Trash rather than erasing it immediately.
- From the note list, use the note's menu (or swipe, on mobile) and choose Delete. It moves to Trash, and an Undo option appears briefly where you deleted it from.
- Open Trash from the sidebar (web) or the Library sheet (mobile) to see everything waiting there. Each note offers Restore, which puts it back exactly where it was, and Delete forever, which removes that one note immediately and cannot be undone.
- Empty trash, at the top of the Trash view, permanently deletes everything in it at once.
Archiving, for comparison
Archiving a note is the other soft action available from the same menu. It moves a note out of the main list without marking it for deletion at all — Trash and Archive are separate views, and a note only reaches Trash if Delete was chosen specifically.
